Managing Information Overload

Many ICT tools have been created to help in dealing with the information explosion. In what ways can the following help in decision-making; spreadsheets, data mining tools, simulation software, exception reporting tools.

The world of IT is vastly expanding, and those with IT related jobs are the ones struggling. A lare percentage of them recieve outstanding amounts of emails a day, be it junk, or useful infromation.
To overcome these issues tools have been created. The most obvious option is a spam filter, which can be used to...well filter down your emails, so that you only receive the ones that are important. They do this by blocking specific sites which are known to send alot of unwanted mail, aswell as this they can scan the emails that do get through for key words which the user does not want to recieve, an exmple of this would be sex, or drugs.

ANother type of tool which can be used is spread sheet, although not for emails, its can be very handy for alot of the other office based tasks. Tasks which spreadsheet can handle could be, calculating, day/event planning, working with prophets or incomes.
