*What are there for the developed world in bridging the global digital divide?
*What advantages are there for the poorest nations?
*Was president Clinton correct in saying that matching internet access levels with telephone levels will do as much as anything to reduce income equality?
*Do charities such as Computer Aid do more good than harm?
The advantages for bridging the digital divide is the fact that there will be better communication for business for example, being able to set up business in other countries knowing that there will be willing and skilled (in IT) employees waiting at the other end. Also, people comming in to the UK will have a better chance of getting a job and having a stable family as they will be on a decent wage with the IT skills they picked up in thier own country.
The advantages for poorer/the poorest countries is that they will have better living conditions, also if they are in need of aid, there will be better communication in place meaning faster help/assistance.
Matching internet with telephone access levels is all very will but in my opinionit could potentially do more harm than good, my reason being is MEDC's will pump money into LEDC's, and the likleyhood is they will not know what to buy, instead I suggest they send easy to use computers or train them people who will use the before hand.
